Being convenor of Nominations at this seminal time is therefore an opportunity to make a significant contribution.

Church Life Review Task Group Convenor

The purpose of the role is to organise and convene the task group and participate in wider programme meetings and activities. This will include ensuring the task group fulfils its remit, enthusing and encouraging the group to discern future possibilities, to be innovative, and to find solutions, and guide them through feasibility studies. The convenor will understand and identify interdependencies with other task groups and address these with the Programme Manager.

Church Life Review Task Group Member

The purpose of the role is to support, guide and proactively assist task group activities. This may involve meeting people across the denomination, analysing information, producing information for others, producing models and diagrams, using project templates and materials, assessing options and designing consultations.

Resource Sharing Task Group Opportunity

We are seeking nominations and applications immediately for a convenor and members of the Resource Sharing/Finance Task Group. We would be interested to hear from anyone with an in-depth understanding of the URC’s financial and legal arrangements and with wider strategic financial, legal or governance experience or change management in finance and governance structures.

We are seeking immediate nominations and applications for a convenor and members of the Support Services Task Group; people who are open to a challenge and keen to shape new support services for our churches.

Local Lay Worker (employed) Task Group Opportunity

Are you being called to discern new possibilities for people employed by local churches?

We are seeking immediate nominations and applications for a convenor and members of the local lay workers task group; people who have a missional heart and are excited by the potential of employing people in local churches.

Commission Secretary – Ministerial Discipline Process

The URC’s Ministerial Discipline Process is looking for a Commission Secretary, effective from July 2025, but with ample shadowing time of the present post-holder built in.

Key tasks include:

  • Keeping records of the panel for Assembly Commissions.
  • Approaching identified individuals to sit on Assembly Commissions.
  • Liaising with all those involved in disciplinary cases.
  • Arranging meetings for Assembly Commissions, draft agendas, take minutes and assist to progress cases. Advise on due process.
  • Drafting documents for approval by the Assembly Commissions.
  • Monitoring and seek to expedite the progress of cases through the ‘hearing stage’ of the disciplinary process
  • Making arrangements for formal disciplinary hearings and attend, including taking notes during the hearing, keeping records of decisions made, informing parties of decisions made and record keeping.
  • Seeking feedback and drafting lessons learnt reports on all cases that entered the disciplinary process.
